Maria is originally from Afghanistan and was an OB/GYN physician there. She and her family moved to the US a few years ago as refugees, and then they became patients at Exalta. She has private health insurance now, and is no longer a patient, but she wanted to give back because of the care she received. Maria currently volunteers at Exalta as a Medical Assistant. She is also in the process of taking the USMLE board exams, in order to become a licensed physician in the US. She will then complete a 3-year residency training, so she may work as a physician here in the US.
